Education & Rescue Transport at Wildlife Center of Long Island
Wildlife Center of Long Island is currently accepting applications for two hands-on volunteer roles that put you directly in the field or in front of the community.
Education Volunteers represent the Center at schools, libraries, and community festivals — helping kids and adults appreciate the wildlife that calls Long Island home.
Rescue & Transport Volunteers work out in the field capturing, containing, and transporting injured and orphaned animals to the Center's rehabilitation facility in Huntington.

Planting Fields Foundation Service Corps Fall Applications Open
Planting Fields Foundation's Service Corps is looking for young adults ages 18–26 ready to spend eight weeks doing meaningful, hands-on work on one of Long Island's most beautiful historic landscapes.
Rooted in the traditions of Peace Corps and AmeriCorps, the program pairs real stewardship responsibilities with structured mentorship and professional growth.
Corps members work in small crews on trail improvements, invasive species management, habitat restoration, and historic garden care. They also support public programs — helping with tours, school visits, festivals, and volunteer days — and contribute to behind-the-scenes research and interpretation projects that connect the park's landscape to its history and ecology.
On-site housing may be available (fees may apply). Applications are due September 1, 2026.
