Position: Senior Director of Community Health Programs
Type: Full-time
Location: Melville, NY (multiple locations across Long Island)
Pay: $105,000-$115,000/year
Island Harvest is hiring a Senior Director to lead its community health programs — the frontline services that connect Long Island's most vulnerable residents with healthy food, support, and essential information. This role reports to the Chief Network Alliances and Services Officer and works closely with the senior leadership team.
The Senior Director supervises department staff and oversees programs spanning food assistance, nutrition education, outreach, and advocacy. The right candidate will advance these programs to new levels while building coordination across multiple functions and locations. Areas of expertise should include performance metrics, budget management, and developing community alliances. Knowledge of NY State's Medicaid 1115 Waiver Program is a plus.
Candidates need a bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience), 5+ years of progressive nonprofit or healthcare leadership, and at least 4 years managing professional teams. Comfort working with senior business executives and strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite) are required. This is a role for a strategic thinker who's motivated by innovation and the chance to make a measurable difference in community health.
