Why toss your leftover Halloween pumpkins in the trash when you can launch them through the air with a slingshot instead? The Science Museum of Long Island invites families to its 4th Annual Great Pumpkin Smash — a one-of-a-kind afternoon of pumpkin-powered fun at the Leeds Pond Preserve in Manhasset.

Bring your own pumpkins and take aim with slingshots, launchers, and bats. Between rounds of smashing, enjoy cornhole, bowling, live music, and food from local vendors. Every last pumpkin scrap gets composted at the end of the day, turning your jack-o'-lantern into a win for the environment. All proceeds support the Chris Holmes Memorial Fund, which provides summer camp scholarships and funds environmental stewardship projects on Long Island.
