Picture a string quartet playing quiet, beautiful classical music while the night sky turns slowly over your head on a 60-foot dome. That's Strings Under the Stars, now in its sixth year at the Vanderbilt Museum's Reichert Planetarium in Centerport.
The musicians come from Long Island Chamber Music, a group drawn from Carnegie Hall's Ensemble Connect, the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra and other top institutions. Each year brings new music and new visuals of the cosmos to go with it. Demand was high enough that there are two performances this year. It's open to all ages, and it makes a lovely, unhurried evening out.
When: Sunday, November 15, 2026 · 5:00pm or 7:00pm
Where: Reichert Planetarium, Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum, 180 Little Neck Road, Centerport, NY 11721
Cost: $40; children 15 and under $35
Note: Tickets are sold by performance time. All ages welcome.
