The world has gotten hectic and change is happening fast. And somewhere in all of that, a lot of us have lost our sense of purpose, our connection to each other, and our feeling that what we do actually matters.
I started exploring nonprofit events and work to get back that meaningful connection with people, with my own sense of fulfillment from using my time and skills for a worthwhile purpose.
The more I told people what I was doing, the more I realized there were others feeling and wanting the same thing. Lots of us actually. So if that sounds like you, I started PPN to help you find it again too.
Events worth showing up for — fun, meaningful things to do with your family or on your own that are enjoyable, support a good cause, and remind you there are people out there doing something good.
Volunteer opportunities worth giving your time to — a chance to reconnect with people and your community around something that matters. Not just giving back, but showing up somewhere that's glad you did.
Jobs worth building a career around — roles that give you a real sense of fulfillment and put your skills to work for something bigger than a bottom line. For anyone who's felt their work losing meaning or wants to point their career in a direction they can believe in.
PPN covers Long Island's nonprofit sector in Nassau and Suffolk counties across cause categories including
We include nonprofits, land trusts, conservation organizations, civic groups, and the "Friends of" organizations that do on-the-ground work alongside state parks and public lands.
PPN is an independent publication, not affiliated with any single organization or cause. We're supported by personal funds, cups of coffee donations, and the occasional mission-aligned sponsors when they add value to our audience.
There's a lot of good work happening that not enough people know about. If your organization runs events, needs volunteers, or is hiring — PPN wants to help people find you.
Listing is free. We review all submissions and publish what fits our audience and editorial standards.
The best way to follow PPN is the free weekly newsletter. Hand-picked selections of upcoming Nonprofit events, volunteer picks, job listings, and a spotlight on good work happening across Long Island — delivered to your inbox every week.
Whether you're looking for something worthwhile to do or for something more, PPN was made for you.
