Position: Public Programs Manager

Pay: $55,000 – $62,000/year, plus benefits
Hours: Includes weekends and nights as needed for the program schedule
Planting Fields Foundation is hiring a Public Programs Manager to conceptualize, manage, execute, and evaluate all of its adult public programs. The role sits on the Engagement and Learning team and suits a highly organized communicator and collaborator with museum or public garden experience.
Key responsibilities
Oversee approximately 35 programs a year, including four major festivals, two 5K runs/walks, the Creative Spirits lecture series, a concert series, exhibition openings, wellness experiences and workshops, with room to develop new programming in support of the strategic vision
Manage run of show and logistics: invitations, permitting, activities, staffing, food, parking, décor, and vendor and partner coordination
Serve as primary liaison with PFF and New York State Parks site staff; coordinate setup and breakdown with Facilities
Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager on messaging, visuals, post-event surveys and registration monitoring
Manage program budgets against annual revenue and expense goals and report to senior staff
Partner with development staff on grants, corporate sponsorships and donor recognition
Advance inclusivity and accessibility through program alignment and audience development
Qualifications
3–4 years of experience developing programs in a museum or public garden setting
Strong communication skills; comfortable working with a diverse public in person, by phone and online
Thrives in a small team and independently; flexible and adaptable
Proficient in Office 365; Blackbaud Altru CRM experience a plus
Able to work outside, stand/walk frequently, and lift 20 pounds
Spanish language ability appreciated
