The final week of August brings three more chances to join CRESLI's scientist-led whale watching expeditions out of Montauk. These trips are part of CRESLI's 31st season with the Viking Fleet — decades of research that have documented humpback whales, finback whales, dolphins, sea turtles, and countless seabirds in the waters off Long Island's east end.
Whether it's your first time or your tenth, there's nothing quite like being on the water when a whale surfaces next to the boat. The season runs through September, but these late-summer trips often deliver some of the best sightings.
