Creating the Oudolf Garden of Planting Fields
Planting Fields is a 409-acre Gold Coast estate designed in part by the Olmsted Brothers (of Central Park fame), and this summer it's getting its biggest addition in nearly a century: a new garden designed by world-renowned landscape designer Piet Oudolf.
From Tuesday, June 23rd to Friday, June 26th, between 9am and 5pm, the Oudolf Garden team is inviting volunteers onto the grounds to help bring it to life — planting, mulching, watering, and other hands-on garden work. It's outdoor, it's physical, and it's a rare chance to help build something that visitors will be walking through for generations.
