Got a budding naturalist in the family? The North Shore Land Alliance's Young Explorers program invites kids ages 7–12 to Humes Preserve for a leaf scavenger hunt through the meadow and surrounding woods.

Led by the Land Alliance O'Neil Stewards, young explorers will learn to identify different tree species using leaf shapes and other identifiers. Afterward, they'll trace and color the leaves they've collected — so they can spot the same trees near home and in their favorite parks. Advance registration is required.
