Save the Great South Bay runs a community oyster garden right at the Snapper Inn in Oakdale, and their Monday morning crew is looking for volunteers. It's a beautiful spot on the Connetquot River — and you'll be doing real conservation work while you're there.
Each session, volunteers pull oyster-filled milk crates from the water, hose them down, count and measure the baby oysters (called spat), and return the crates. You never go in the water, and you can come for one session or every week.

Upcoming dates: August 10, 17, 24th
