ReWild Long Island's South Nassau chapter keeps its Valley Stream Community Garden going right up to the end of the season, and every Saturday morning this November there's a spot for you. Sunflower heads are reseeding, the last vegetables are coming in, and there's plenty to do before winter.
Pick one Saturday or come to all three. Volunteers plant natives and collect seeds, grow and harvest organic vegetables, and handle the pruning, weeding and watering, while learning about sustainability from friendly neighbors. It's a feel-good way to spend a couple of hours outside, and no experience is needed.
