Save the Great South Bay's Brightwaters crew meets every Tuesday morning to maintain their community oyster garden near Walker Beach. It's a great way to spend a couple of hours doing something meaningful for the bay — and you don't need any prior experience.

Volunteers pull oyster-filled milk crates from the water, hose them down, count and measure the baby oysters, and return the crates. You never go in the water, and you can come for one session or make it a regular thing.
