Get your hands dirty for a good cause. Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt hosts monthly "Adopt a Patch" work sessions where volunteers tackle invasive plants that threaten Vineyard Field's native grassland habitat. Each volunteer is assigned a patch to maintain — or you can get one assigned on the spot.

It's hands-on conservation work in one of the South Fork's most ecologically significant landscapes, and all ages and skill levels are welcome. Bring gloves and dress for tick protection.
