There's something fitting about turning a planetarium dome toward the spookier corners of the night sky. Haunted Skies is the Vanderbilt's seasonal favorite at the Reichert Planetarium — a show that leans into the eerie side of astronomy right when the season calls for it.
Then the real sky gets its turn. After the show, the observatory opens to the public and an astronomy educator is on hand with the telescope, so you can look at the actual October night sky instead of a projection of it. Weather permitting, of course.
It's part of the museum's Thankful Thursday series, which is what makes it free — you just need to reserve a complimentary ticket in advance.
