On May 7, Peconic Land Trust celebrated Broad Cove with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and partners. The Trust and DEC finalized a conservation easement previously for this Aquebogue preserve, ensuring its permanent protection. Since acquiring it in 2021, Peconic Land Trust added amenities like a parking area, bilingual signs, benches, a chronolog station, bluebird boxes, and removed invasive species while replanting native grasses. There are two trails to the water, a new meadow trail, and Broad Cove is now on the New York State Birding Trail, one of only three sites on Long Island's North Fork.
