Position: Manager of Donor Engagement
Type: Part-time (28 hours/week)
Location: Stony Brook, NY
Pay: $30–$32/hour
Hours: 4 days/week, 7 hours/day, Monday–Friday core hours
The Long Island Museum — an AAM-accredited, Smithsonian-affiliated institution in Stony Brook — is seeking a Manager of Donor Engagement to help advance its annual and long-term fundraising goals. This is a senior development role where you’ll shape the museum’s donor relationships, grow its major gift pipeline, and strengthen connections with its Board of Trustees and volunteer community.
You’ll identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors and prospects, support capital and endowment campaigns, and help refine the museum’s overall fundraising strategy. Working closely with the Co-Executive Directors and the Development team, you’ll play a central role in sustaining one of Long Island’s most distinctive cultural destinations — home to 40,000+ objects spanning over 500 years of art, history, and culture.
The ideal candidate brings a bachelor’s degree and seven to ten years of nonprofit fundraising experience, a proven track record with major gifts, and strong relationship-building skills. Familiarity with CRM systems, fundraising analytics, and development best practices is expected, and experience with museums, arts, or cultural organizations is preferred.
Benefits include a voluntary 403(b) retirement plan and paid time off.
