You only have a couple of weeks left to see one of the most striking things on the Vanderbilt estate. Wendy Klemperer: Wrought Taxonomies fills the grounds with animal sculptures made from steel salvaged from scrapyards. There are large forms on the lawns and smaller pieces hanging from trees along the hiking trail, plus more near the gardens and the Marine Museum.

The sculptures draw on imaginary, endangered, familiar and exotic species. Their loose, gestural lines invite you to think about our fascination with animals and the toll of industrial expansion. This was the estate's first outdoor sculpture exhibition, and it closes November 15. On a crisp fall afternoon, a walk around the grounds to find them all is time well spent.
