Planting Fields is opening its Community Garden for a special morning of exploration and hands-on learning led by Shane Weeks and Tecumseh Ceaser of the Metoac Indigenous Collective. Families will discover Indigenous gardening practices, the cultural significance of native plants, sustainable harvesting techniques, and the importance of preserving seeds for future generations.

After exploring the garden, participants will help nourish it by adding nutrient-rich local seaweed — then create native wildflower seed balls to take home. It’s a simple, meaningful way to support local pollinators and continue the cycle of growth beyond Planting Fields. A chance to slow down, learn from the land, and experience this historic landscape in a whole new way.
