Position: Full-Time Wildlife Caretaker
Type: Full-time
Location: Huntington, NY (Centerport)
Pay: $22–$25/hour + health benefits
Hours: Sunday–Thursday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Start Date: October 1, 2026 (flexible)

Wildlife Center of Long Island is seeking a reliable, compassionate Wildlife Caretaker to care for injured and orphaned native wildlife patients at their wildlife hospital. As the primary staff member on your shift, you’ll prepare species-appropriate diets, administer medications, monitor patient progress, and maintain clean, safe enclosures — all with volunteer assistance and guidance from the Center’s Co-Directors.

The ideal candidate has significant hands-on experience in wildlife care or the veterinary field, along with background knowledge of native Long Island wildlife. This role is physically demanding — expect prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive cleaning. Not every patient survives, so compassion, resilience, and a positive attitude are essential. The Center operates out of two Huntington locations (employees use their own vehicle with mileage reimbursement).
