Some of the best native plants for your garden are already sitting in dried seed heads all around us this time of year, free for the taking if you know how. ReWild Long Island's new Mid Nassau chapter is kicking off "Gather, Sow, Grow!", a two-part hands-on series, in the Cathedral ReWild Gardens in Garden City.

In Part 1 you'll learn to identify and harvest seeds from native plants, when to collect them, and how to prep them for cold sowing. You'll also learn why a little winter weather actually helps some native seeds sprout in spring. Beginners and seasoned gardeners alike are welcome, and it's a great way to meet fellow plant people nearby. Part 2, Winter Seed Sowing, follows on January 10, 2027.

When: Sunday, November 1, 2026 · 2:00–4:00pm
Where: Cathedral ReWild Gardens, Cathedral of the Incarnation, 46 Cathedral Avenue, Garden City, NY 11530
Cost: FREE
Note: Registration required. The workshop is outdoors, so wear comfortable clothing, long pants and socks. Rain cancels.
