Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve is home to one of Long Island's most celebrated Artist-in-Residence programs — and this June, artist Heather Heckel invites the public into her creative process with a hands-on workshop inspired by the park's landscapes.
In this layered landscape workshop, participants ages 8 and up of all skill levels will color, cut out, and assemble shapes inspired by the local flora, fauna, and scenery onto translucent paper — creating luminous, layered artworks that capture the light and character of Caumsett in a uniquely tactile way. No artistic experience necessary, just curiosity and a willingness to look closely at the world around you.
